Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to the most common questions about our legal services, processes, and how we can help you.

01 What do I need for a divorce in Macedonia?
For a consensual divorce, you need a written agreement on property division, custody, and alimony. For a contested divorce, a lawsuit must be filed with the competent court. In both cases, engaging a lawyer simplifies the process and protects your rights. Contact us for a free consultation about your specific situation.
02 How do I buy real estate in Macedonia?
Buying real estate involves: checking the property record at the cadastre, drafting a purchase agreement, notarization, paying transfer tax, and registering the right at the Cadastre. We recommend legal due diligence before purchase to avoid hidden encumbrances or disputes. Our office handles the entire process.
03 How long does company registration take?
LLC registration at the Central Registry takes 1-3 business days after submitting complete documentation. Document preparation (articles of association, decisions, OP form) usually takes another 1-2 days. The entire process can be completed in 3-5 business days with an engaged lawyer.
04 Can I get a work permit for a foreign worker?
Yes, work permits for foreign citizens are obtained through the Employment Agency. Required: employer application, employment contract, proof that the position cannot be filled domestically, and qualification documents. The process takes 15-30 days. Our office handles the entire procedure.
05 What is due diligence and why is it important?
Due diligence is a detailed examination of the legal and financial status of a company or property before investing or purchasing. It reveals potential risks: debts, court proceedings, ownership issues, regulatory violations. Without due diligence, you risk buying a problem instead of an investment.
06 How do I collect a debt from a debtor who won't pay?
There are several options: demand letter, notarial payment order (for undisputed claims — fastest), court lawsuit, or enforcement proceedings. For undisputed debts with an invoice or contract, the notarial payment order is most effective — the debtor must pay or object within 8 days. Contact us to choose the best strategy.
07 Do I need a lawyer for a labor dispute?
Although not legally mandatory, we strongly recommend a lawyer for labor disputes. Employers have legal teams, and you need equal protection. A lawyer can negotiate better compensation, appeal unfair dismissal, and represent you in court. The first consultation is free — tell us what happened.
08 How much is the real estate transfer tax?
The real estate transfer tax in Macedonia is 2-4% of the market value, depending on the municipality. The buyer must pay within 15 days of notarization. For new construction purchased from a developer, VAT (18%) applies instead of transfer tax.
09 Can a foreigner establish a company in Macedonia?
Yes, foreign nationals can establish a company in Macedonia without restrictions. Required: passport, registered address, minimum EUR 5,000 share capital for LLC (no need to deposit in account). The process is the same as for domestic persons. Our office specializes in helping foreign investors — we handle the entire process remotely.
10 Do you work online or do I need to come in person?
We work online too! We conduct consultations via phone, WhatsApp, Viber, and video calls. We receive and send documents electronically. For court representation, we attend in person — you don't have to. This is especially useful for clients outside Skopje or abroad.
